Camco

Camco Tuxedo Snare Drum

Description:
- 5 1/2 x 14
- Steel shell
Comments:

Most of the American Drum companies in the 1960's offered metal snares with their complete kits. The wood models were offered as “special orders”. The Camco drum company went in a different direction. The wood snares were offered with the kits and the metal snares were posted apart in the Camco catalogs.

This particular model was known as the Tuxedo model and it came with either the round Aristocrat or the trapezoidal strainer. The drum also sported triple flange hoops. Camco didn't have the promotional heft of Ludwig, Slingerland, or Gretsch. Their number of endorsers was never very large. Nevertheless, Camco made a fine drum. This is a good example of that.

Description:
- 5 x 14
- Wood Shell
Comments:

Camco drums have skyrocketed in value over the last few years. In the 60's, the company was a weak sister compared to Ludwig, Slingerland, Rogers, and Gretsch. They made a fine drum that has stood the test of time.

Some famous players, among them Dennis Wilson of the Beach Boys, played Camco. The company simply didn't have the promotional heft that the other companies had.
