Joe Morello was Ludwig's top Jazz endorser. There were others, of course. The great Roy Haynes and the superb Ed Thigpen were also Ludwig players. But Joe played with Dave Burbeck who had major success with his "Take Five."

This jazz tune, in 5/4 time no less, was a major cross over hit on the pop charts. No other jazz drummer at that time could match that success. Ludwig executives were quite aware of Brubeck's popularity and made sure that Joe was highlighted in various ads. This ad appeared in DownBeat magazine in the 1960's
